Basic art elements such as color study, proportions, shape and line relations, and texture will be introduced. Students will be working from reference images and simple still life, with subject matter first focusing on landscape and still life and later animals and people. An emphasis of the class will fall on understanding light and dark, becoming comfortable and gaining control over the medium used. Each student will produce about 2-3 drawings by the end of the term.
*Drawing supplies included.
*Class size is limited to 8 students.

Painting Supply list:
Acrylic paints: Titanium white, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Pthalo Blue, Mars Black
Small set of brushes (1" thick and smaller)
Paper palate
Canvas (about 12" x 16", could be smaller or larger)
Thursdays 7:30 - 9 PM
4 classes, $300 (register monthly)
This class goes beyond the scope of the 1.5-hour class session. Students are expected to be in contact with the portfolio instructor throughout the week on any topics that may arise such as homework assignments, art material inquiries, college research, applications questions and National Portfolio Day visits. -Included in the price.
Students are expected to have a sketchbook for homework and class assignments, which becomes part of the full portfolio.
